Lago Vista | Golf and Lake community offering a short bio of Lake Travis Resort Community.

Lago Vista, Texas, Located northwest of Austin on North Shore Lake Travis, the community was developed in 1960s as a lake and golf resort community. Bar K Ranch guest resort was a hub for summer vacationers since the 1940 and still remains a Lago Vista land mark.  In 1980s Lago Vista residence voted to incorporate their lake community to form a city government.

Lago Vista still remains a hot spot for camping, water activities, recreation, golf, sailing & boating with vacationer’s year around, with the population growing from a couple thousand residences in 1980s to over 4500 in 2000 and well over that today with all the beautiful homes and condos balanced along Lake Travis Shoreline and homes nestled In the Lago Vista rolling hills. When I moved to Lago Vista in 1998 there wasn’t post office and only one bank and one small grocery store, today there is two banks, post office, Drug Store, several nice restaurants, automotive and lumber centers with many small strip shopping centers.

Rusty Allen Air Port is a located on Bark K Ranch RD sitting on the big hill-mountain overlooking the city and lake. The Lago Vista Air Power Museum, built by WWII retired veterans, displays an excellent collection war memorabilia. Many visitors fly in to Lago Vista Airport to visit and many residence own their own planes.

Whether sailing on Lake Travis, hiking or biking our hills, or enjoying the beautiful sunsets, Lago Vista pro-vides a quality of life that many people desire. We strive to provide a quality of life that preserves the natural beauty while promoting economic growth. As the gateway to the Balcones Canyon lands National Wildlife Refuge, bird watchers can observe the endan-gered Golden-cheek Warbler and Black-capped Vireo in their natural habitat. Other native wildlife include deer, fox, and armadillos.

Our two golf courses provide enjoy-able golf opportunities for everyone from beginners to pros. Lago Vista supports an active lifestyle with many local groups offering opportunities to participate in theater, recreation or city government. There are many opportu-nities for school children to participate in extracurricular activities as well as receive an excellent education.
